More Mumbles Mysteries

All Saints Church, Oystermouth.  Close to where Thomas Bowdler is buried.  Bowdler, who died 1825 at Swansea, however he was buried at Oystermouth.  It is thought that it was fashionable to be buried down the Mumbles, as it was an up-and-coming place!

So close by is the grave of Dr. John Wallace.  Wallace, was the Staff Surgeon, R.N. He served with distinction in the Chilean War and was present at both the Battle of Inkerman and Storming of Sebastopol, Crimean War.  Returned back to Mumbles and died November 1978 at his resident Claremont Villas.

The Cambrian, 6th December 1878

The headstone was erected by his sorrowing widow.

As to any further information, there doesn’t seem to be any!
